August 25, 2003 - What if you couldn't be stopped
Volume 2, Issue 29
The weekly ezine with a road map for
sidetracked writers.
"Be better writers today
than we were yesterday."
Hello, all you unstoppable writers out there!
Thought for the Week - What if You Couldn't Be Stopped?
Book Review: Unstoppable by Cynthia Kersey
What if you were Unstoppable(R)? What if you pursued each of your writing dreams with passion and purpose? What might you accomplish?
Do you have certain books you pull out every time you need a little inspiration? I do, and I just found a new one: Unstoppable by Cynthia Kersey.
The author used her and her husband's entire life savings to spend 16 months researching and interviewing hundreds of unstoppable individuals. She used this research to write Unstoppable. The book has profiles of 45 role models and a seven-step plan to show you how to be like them.
In the introduction, Kersey describes the individuals as "...criticized or discouraged by people who branded their dreams 'unrealistic.'"
How often does this happen to writers? Writers are often told to get a real job or quit wasting their time writing. But if writing is your passion, you can't (and I
don't believe you should) give it up.
This book tells you how to continue and gives you the inspiration to overcome challenges that leap into your path.
P.S. "Julie, I love your book. I have read (or at least opened) more than a trunk load of books about writing over the years. Yours is the first I have seen that gives readers so much in one place. For me, the Master List and putting that together was more than worth the cost."

How did it go this month? Did you add some new skills to your resume? Lots of
classes are starting in the next couple weeks, so think about what fits best into your schedule for the fall season:
3) Make Your Household Hum (so you have more time to write!)
If you've got kids in school, like me, are you organized for back-to-school? Here are a couple of my favorite suggestions:
-- Make sure you've got a place to keep all the papers and projects that come home every day. And try to purge them regularly (we're still working on this one!). Keep only the best stuff, and take pictures of the projects that are too difficult to store.
-- Get your calendar ready by filling in the dates for the whole year in one big sitting. Our school sends a calendar for the year, and I can mark all the early-release days and parent-teacher conferences at one time.
-- Finally, create a place to keep backpacks and lunchboxes so they are easy to find each morning. I love this article by Cynthia Townley Ewer of OrganizedHome.com: http://organizedhome.com/organized/launchpad.html
5) 1,020 subscribers and
31st is a Play Day
Time to celebrate! Writer-Reminders crossed the 1,000 subscriber-mark this past week.
(I remember when I started this newsletter almost two years ago asking my husband if he thought anyone would want another writer's newsletter.) Thanks
for subscribing. Julie
Since the plan in my ebook is a 30-day plan, the 31st is always a play day (Remember play days in elementary school? We always went to a park and played all day long. It was one of the best school days of the year.)
We'll be playing and celebrating this month at the local water park. I can't wait. I hope you can do something fun, too.
Happy writing! Julie
