Writer-Reminders
.... the
ezine for sidetracked writers.

Halfway There!
Thought for the Week - Halfway There!
Wow! Can you believe it?
We are halfway through the year!
Are you halfway to your writing goals
for the year? Don't worry if you're not! Here are
three things you can do to make the rest of the year,
the best of the year:
1) Get an accountability
partner. Ask a friend if they would like to be
your accountability partner. Plan to contact each
other and commit to what you are going to do to move
your writing forward.
I just started this with a writer friend, and we are
having great luck keeping ourselves on track. We
talk on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 with a quick update
about where we are and what we are committing to for the
next couple days. Then the other person checks up
on them the next call.
2)
Plan a writing vacation. When can you sneak in
some writing time this summer? Take a day off
work, go hang out in a coffee shop, or visit the
library, and get your fingers typing!
Or write at night... summer TV is
terrible anyway and since the sun is out so much later
you can work into the evening and feel like it's still
part of the "day."
3) For all you writing
parents, get some help with the kids. There
are lots of teenagers getting bored with the summer by
now. Snag one to come and play with the kids for a
few hours every week (or even every day!). The
kids get to have fun, and you get to write.
Happy writing (and organizing) this
summer!
(And happy 4th of July to all you U.S.
writers! Enjoy those fireworks. I can't wait
to hang out by the river, listen to the patriotic music
and celebrate our freedom with gorgeous fireworks!)
"I'm on day 5 of your book and already have done more writing and compiled more ideas in this short time as I usually do over several months." -- reader M. Howard

You know how we've always been told that dogs love bones?
Do you believe it?
What about steak? Do you think dogs love steak?
The speaker at a seminar last week suggested that dogs love
steak--and that they just settle for bones.
Where in your life are you "settling for bones?" Are you
settling for not writing that novel or not sending those queries to the major
magazines? Are you settling for the excuse that you just don't have time
to write, or you just don't have the inspiration?
Let's go for the steak!
What will you go for during the rest of this year? What's
your big goal? Now break it down into the steps for the next ninety days.
What's the first thing you have to do? Now hop to it! I can't wait
to hear about what you accomplish!
And even the most successful
authors struggle through the process. You might like Do Not Disturb: Author at Work by Garrison Keller (thanks to
my writer friend, Ann, for sending this article to me today.)

Turn your writing business into a Cash Machine! Is your writing business
generating the kind of income you would like? If not, consider getting the
new Cash Machine book. One of my coaches, Loral Langemeier, has written a
wonderful book, The
Millionaire Maker's Guide to Creating a Cash Machine for Life.
It's her best book yet, but even better for you, she has created a Reading Room
where she is giving away free coaching! For eight weeks, you can
walk through the book step-by-step and create your cash machine along with
Loral.
(By the way, this is a great marketing idea for those of you with non-fiction
books! Consider setting up your own reading room to walk readers through
your program. It may be the gentle push they need to buy.)
Go to
this page to order the book before the Reading Room fills up!

"Julie, I am sending a quick note to thank you for your well measured and extra-ordinary website. You have
a tremendous amount of information at a very reasonable cost. I subscribed to your free site and, for the
first time in forty years of writing, found a planner that works for me.
I felt so guilty for receiving so much information free from your
site that I have now ordered and downloaded the e book. I have found that you have struck a cord among so
many writers regarding procrastination and simple organization. Keep up the good work.
